Gitare is a coffee factory located in the Kiambu region of Kenya, managed by the Gititu Farmers Cooperative Society. Established in 1954, it has a rich history in coffee production. The factory processes cherries from approximately 1,000 smallholder farmers, collectively handling around 2,500 metric tonnes of coffee annually. These farmers often cultivate other crops like bananas and corn alongside coffee, and utilize cherry pulp mixed with compost as fertilizer.
